38 weeks

Hopefully (but probably) my last baby bump update! Woohoo!

^^^ Just woke up from a nap and still feeling really sleepy.

How far along?  38 1/2 weeks!

Maternity clothes: Um yes, and most of my maternity clothes are now too small so I have like 5 outfits I'm currently rotating.

Stretch marks: Yep. They keep getting darker and bigger but oh well. There is nothing I can do about them and I decided I'm just going to be happy with my new body because it helped create someone I already love so much and if it didn't change then she wouldn't have been here so that's worth the sacrifice to me. Any mama who has a hard time dealing with her body post baby should read this blog post here, you'll cry and feel much better I promise.

Sleep: What's this sleep you speak of? I have pregnancy insomnia BAD. Not only am I getting up on average 5 times to pee, but I tend to only get heartburn in the middle of the night and even if I'm exhausted I can't seem to be able to fall asleep. I guess my body is just preparing me for a newborn.

Best moment this week: Some girls from church threw me a baby shower, and Josh and I finally got (the majority) of the nursery put together. I feel SO much less stressed now it's crazy.

Miss anything? Being able to do anything mostly. I can't bend, turn from side to side, pick things up, carry groceries up the stairs, basically I'm helpless and SO ready to have more flexibility and mobility.

Movement: She definitely moves less which I'm pretty thankful for considering every time she does she pushes on my diaphragm and knocks the wind out of me. My midwife said she's a sleepy baby with long sleep cycles, HOPEFULLY she keeps that up!

Food cravings: Root beer. I've never been a huge soda lover, but I now need a root beer every day, it's so weird. Red grapes too which has been pretty consistent since my second trimester.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.

Gender: Girl.

Labor signs: Lots and lots, midwife said she'd be surprised if I went to my due date. I'm already dilated to a one, 60% effaced, my cervix is really short and soft, and I've been getting lots of period like cramps off and on. It could really be any time now.

Symptoms: Stretch marks, swollen everything, crazy nesting instincts, aching hips, insomnia.

Belly button in or out? Still very much in, looks like that sucker will never pop out.

Wedding rings on or off? Off, and I'm really hoping I'll be able to wear it again and my fingers won't stay fat forever.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, very very happy and excited all the time.

Looking forward to: Not being pregnant and meeting my baby girl, and Josh meeting her as well. My mom is also coming next week to help out and I'm very excited to see her, there's something very comforting about having my mom around.

  1. My fingers got swollen really bad and I couldn't wear my wedding ring either! It took sometime for the swelling to go down but I've been wearing my wedding ring now for months - don't jump the gun and get it resized (like I almost did) just be patient with your new body! So excited for you!

    1. Haha I always assume that once she's out I'll be able to wear my old clothes and my ring, but you're right it takes time! Thank you for the reminder, I need to keep that in mind that if my ring doesn't fit a month after the baby comes there's still hope! Thanks for reading!
