getting dressed up

where i got it: shirt - ruche // skirt & belt - forever 21 // shoes - guess via ross

pregnancy rants and raves:

The good
1. Probably my favorite compliment now is, "What! You're 18 weeks pregnant? But you're SO small! I would have guessed 14 maybe 16 week." Oooh shucks! Funny how someone saying you only look like you've gained a little weight makes your day.
2. Food tastes better I swear. Maybe it's the heightened sense of smell, but every now and then I'll eat something, like a cheesy/saucy enchilada and my life feels infinite.
3. I now have a place to always place my hands. Instead of awkwardly putting them at my side while talking to someone, I just fold them above the baby, or lace my fingers underneath the bump. Pretty convenient. Except when I'm bending over and the baby loudly protests. Won't be able to do that much longer.
4. I think that pregnancy glow is a real thing. I'm telling you, this child of mine has done wonders to my face.

The bad
1. Everyone looks at my belly. Strangers are probably just trying to tell if that's a massive food baby, or if I'm knocked up (not many young 20-somethings are pregnant here). While people I know just stare and try to determine if my baby even exists. Trust me. After throwing up a hundred thousand times I'm pretty sure there's something in there.
2. I now spend the majority of my time reading birth stories and watching birth documentaries. And let me just warn anyone who's pregnant, never watch an epidural on YouTube. I've never been more scared in my life.
3. That moment when you're talking to someone and your baby kicks you and you get really excited and poke it back and the person just doesn't understand first off, why that's so exciting and second, why you're shoving your hand into your unborn child's side.
4. The awkward stage when your normal clothes don't really fit anymore, and you're still swimming in maternity clothes. Can't I just go magically from one to the other?!
5. I think my bladder is now the size of a lima bean. I used to be notorious for holding my bladder, but I think the amount of times I pee throughout the day has gone up by about 250% ish.

    1. Thanks Rachael! I'm at the stage where I can still slightly hide the bump in baggy clothes but even then it's getting noticeable.

  2. love your mix of fancy and casual, it makes for a cute outfit! i can definitely tell you have a baby bump -- you're a petite girl, so people would be silly to think that it's a food baby, haha.

    1. Thank you so much! It's a top I can only wear with a few things, but it's still one of my favorites.

  8. this shirt is gorgeous! I love the whole feminine look. And when I read the word pregnancy I had to scroll back up and look at the pictures again because I totally didn't notice! I'm pregnant too and everything you said is Exactly how I feel haha. It's all so true! Food is 20 times better now, that I will miss. ANd the clothing changes are the hardest I'd say because you're switching sizes so rapidly that it's hard to find anything that isn't either cutting off your breathing or hanging off of you, right?! #pregnancyproblems :P
