just doing grown-up things like starting a career

where i got it: shirt-american eagle // skirt&shoes-forever 21 // belt-target

Sooo it's official. I just landed my first big girl job.
With Josh's dental school applications sent in we've been worried about the interview process. You know, when they email you and say "hey buy a plane ticket and come visit us next week" so then you get a last minute plane ticket across the country, pay for a hotel room and rental car. Basically it'll suck ya dry.
So I sent my resume to a few places on Saturday night, and then Monday morning I got a call from this guy who says he's the marketing and advertising director at a company called Home Care Pulse and that someone gave him my resume because I was just what he was looking for. He asked me to come in and bring a portfolio for an interview.

So naturally I put together a portfolio that night because who needs sleep anyways?
When I got there I had to do a type writing test (52 words/minute with 95% accuracy, no big deal. I thank my endless nights on AIM and Myspace for teaching me to type so fast. Also, the subject was on tigers, and hubs says I take anything related to cats very seriously. So I'm sure that helped too.) Then they asked me a bunch of questions about what I want to do for a career, what I like about school etc.

Then I had to complete a grammar test, which was ridiculously difficult. Let's just say I spent way more time on that then I would have if I'd just finished that grammar class for my major, yeah, that one I took 2 years ago. But hey, a least I was upfront that I kind of suck at editing from the moment they called me.
Anyways, I also put together a white paper (detailed training document that incorporates design and stuff) which I think made up for my lack of editing skills.

Then I got an email saying the COO (chief operating officer) saw my white paper and wanted to meet with me for a second interview. I was about drooling all over myself at this point.

He asked about hubs, his interests and ambitions, which I drew a complete blank and instead of saying he likes, oh I don't know... playing sports or being a little gym rat I say, "Uuuuhhh he really likes to go to the student doctor network and talk to other pre-dental students online" and then he gave me this quizzical look like, so your husband chats online with other people for a hobby, look. It was really awkward.

But they called me a couple hours later and offered me the job! So it's official. I'm a big girl now. With a career.I'll be working with the companies CEO on trainings, marketing and advertising projects. I'll also be managing their social media pages, writing all the content from their website, to emails, to their manual.
And I think one of the best parts is not having to dress up to school every day for work now.Being able to wear jeans at my new job makes my life that much better. Boooyeah.
