Okay Portland, I'll Admit It, You're Pretty Cool.

Okay Northwest, once again, I'm falling hard and fast for you. Can you just stop being so amazingly beautiful and perfect so my heart won't break when we move back to the frozen tundra of Idaho to finish our degrees? Seriously. I'm going to miss you like crazy!

Today we got up early and headed to Portland for the day, and boy oh boy, was it a blast! We wandered the streets downtown, stopped in little art galleries, went to Powell's Bookstore (only the largest used book store ever!), people watched, and imagined what our lives would be like there.

The beauty of the historic buildings, the huge trees, wide sidewalks, and countless bookstores stole my heart today. And I don't think I'll ever get it back.

Take a look at our day...(Sorry there aren't more pictures I was trying so hard to not look like a tourist and refrained myself from snapping pictures if there were people around).

English major heaven looks something similar to this.

Dear Northwest,

I love you. Can we be friends forever?

-Threatening the dang GPS on my phone that if it doesn't stop telling us to turn the wrong way on one way streets, and recalculating every minute I'd throw it out the window to the vultures. It didn't listen. We got incredibly lost in the heart of the city.

-Tried walking out the entrance of Winco (grocery store) like a boss and the door wouldn't open. Turns out it only opens for people going inside the store, not out. So instead of walking to the other side of the store and having everyone notice I just awkwardly stood there pretending to text until someone came in and the door opened-where I then fled out with my head down, pretending that I knew it wouldn't open for me all along. Oh yeah, who's awesome?!

-While watching a scary TV show with Josh, right during the most intense part of the show we heared the garage door open. (Keep in mind we're staying at his Aunt and Uncle's house alone and weren't expecting anyone. Also, their neighbor had been robbed not too long ago). We looked at each other with big eyes, wondering if it was our imagination, until we heard someone open the door and start walking up the stairs. I think Josh was ready to kick some booty until two ladies popped up and after seeing the look of horror on our faces, they quickly declared that they were the cleaning ladies and were supposed to be there. Pheeeew!

-Seeing a herd of deer including a baby while Josh and I were on a run in the morning. Precious, absolutely precious.

-Going to Portland, obviously. And not only that, but spending over an hour in the car chatting with my hubs about our future, and elaborating on our love for each other. Love that guy, and our simple yet perfect quality time together.

PS I want to get my own domain for the blog, I'm thinking:
I'm not sold on it yet, and am open to other suggestions. What do you guys think?!

  5. I'm glad Portland lives up to all the hype! I only know it from Portlandia - maybe some day I'll visit : ) I totally know the feeling - I just love making really obvious mistakes in unfamiliar public places and then trying to play it off - usually unsuccessfully ; ) I always try to make myself feel better by saying I'll probably never see them again! By the way, I love your blog! I skimmed down and checked out your wedding pics - gorgeous!

  6. Good Morning! I wish I could be there with you in Portland, to visit my family! Hope you have a blast! I've nominated you for the Liebster Award! If you choose to participate, please link back to this post and comment with your link so I can read your lovely answers!
